Hot Stovers 58th Annual Awards Banquet

Along with administering the South Jersey Baseball Hall of Fame, which began in 1988, and running the Museum which opened in 2003, the Hot Stovers have honored hundreds of South Jersey high school baseball players and awarded scholarships totaling upwards of $150,000. Many Hall of Fame members are expected to attend and plan to continue to support the efforts of keeping South Jersey baseball alive and well for many years to come.

            The Hot Stovers high school All Star team will be honored as will the MVP in the North/South game, the Robert G. Bobo Memorial Award, Tom Heinkel  and the Jack Carty Memorial Awards, the American Legion MVP,  the Edward J. Haas American Legion Scholarship, Joseph DiFante American Legion Scholarship,  Coach of the Year and the Diamond Classic Champions. And the NJ HS State Championship coaches.   

The Humanitarian Award will be presented for the ninth year and six Scholarships will be awarded to the most outstanding players. 

The Hot Stover’s will induct six new members into the South Jersey Baseball Hall of Fame. They are: Phil Anastasia, Ed Hilt, Dennis Barth, Steven Mondile, Jack Shine, and Brad Strauss.

Hot Stovers 2015 Humanitarian Award

The 2015 Hot Stovers Baseball Club recognizes Lou Marshall, Tom Hewitt & Walt Szwajkowski with the “Hot Stover Humanitarian Award” for their support of the SJMSBL annual “Toys for Tots” and Holiday Food Drive. The award is sponsored by the Blue Eyes Foundation; a family foundation started by Dave Townsend & his wife. It is awarded each year, recognizing “Good Will” within the South Jersey Baseball Community. Lou Marshall, Tom Hewitt & Walt Szwajkowski’s names will be added to a plaque permanently housed in the South Jersey Baseball Hall of Fame Museum located at Campbell’s Field. The award also includes a $500 check to the charity of  choice, which is the Cathedral Kitchen In Camden, N.J.
